Trail starting points
You can start your visit in the national park from Bjørneggen in Meråker, Sildra in Stjørdal or Vekta and Hoemskjølen in Selbu. At these spots, you will find parking spaces, information boards about Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park and marked trail routes into the national park (Please note: the starting points are under construction; therefore, not all the information and marked trail routes are ready).
Trail starting points
You can start your visit in the national park from Bjørneggen in Meråker, Sildra in Stjørdal or Vekta and Hoemskjølen in Selbu. At these spots, you will find parking spaces, information boards about Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park and marked trail routes into the national park (Please note: the starting points are under construction; therefore, not all the information and marked trail routes are ready).
NB: Entrance gates and information points are being worked on and all information and labeling will therefore not be ready in 2024.
Bjørneggen, Stordalen i Meråker:
You can park here and start your hike or skiing trip into the national park towards Schultzhytta or Ramsjøhytta. There is also a marked route towards Storeikvollen which is in Sylan, a landscape conservation area. On the trip you pass cultural relics from when the area was once mined. You will also have a fantastic view of the mountains in the national park.
Sildra, Sondalen in Stjørdal
You can park and start your hike towards Sonvatna here or follow the marked route towards Storskarven. The trail is ploughed during the winter all the way to Sildra, but there are no marked winter routes from this starting point.
Vekta in Sebu
You can park here and start your hike or ski trip into the Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park towards Prestøyhytta cabin or Schulzhytta tourist cabin.
On the way, you pass the Stråsjøen-Prestøyan nature reserve which is an important wetland area known for its rich birdlife. The tourist trail between Prestøyhytta cabin and Schulzhytta tourist cabin passes, among other things, millstone quarries.
There is a fantastic view from here of Skarvan, Kvernfjellvatna, Kalvskinnsfloene and the mountain range with Fongen and Ruten.
Hoemskjølen, Øverbygda in Selbu
You can park here in the summer and go hiking along the tourist-marked trail towards Schulzhytta tourist cabin. On the way you pass Høgfjellet and the millstone quarries. In the winter, you can park further down near the village at Synnåsen and follow the clearly marked ski route down towards Schulzhytta.
Information points
Information points have been established in Stjørdal, Meråker and Tydal. An information point in Selbu is being planned.
