The national park is in Trønderlag, just south of Trondheim Airport, Værnes. There are many opportunities to stay overnight in the surrounding villages, including camping sites, pitch sites for motorhomes, small farms offering overnight accommodation as well as hotels.

The national park is in Trønderlag, just south of Trondheim Airport, Værnes. There are many opportunities to stay overnight in the surrounding villages, including camping sites, pitch sites for motorhomes, small farms offering overnight accommodation as well as hotels.
There are trail starting points in the national park at Bjørneggen in Meråker, Sildra in Sondalen in Stjørdal along with Vekta and Hoemskjølen in Selbu. You can travel by car to these starting points, or you can take the bus from Stjørdal along the E14 towards Meråker or the 705 country road towards Tydal. You then need to take a taxi or walk to the starting point.
